m33: Galaxy of Hybrids
M33: Galaxy of Hybrids is an original sci-fi comic series that intertwines multiple galaxies, and primarily set in the Triangulum Galaxy. On the planet Orunda, four unique species—each with their own histories, struggles, and alliances—strive to build a new era of peace after centuries of conflict. But harmony doesn’t come easily. From political upheaval to encounters with higher-dimensional beings, the story explores what it means to coexist, evolve, and adapt in a universe alive with mystery.
At the heart of the story are Sig and Ka-li—an unlikely couple whose love bridges two worlds. Sig, a Grey, and Ka-li, a Reptilian, originate from our own galaxy, carrying with them all the weight of myth, speculation, and secrecy that surrounds their species here on Earth. Their bond draws readers into the story as both a romance and a reckoning: what does it mean for beings who were once cast as enemies, or even monsters, to discover love and common ground? Their relationship becomes a mirror for the larger questions of trust, hybridity, and survival that ripple across the series.
Over in the Triangulum Galaxy (M33) are the Oyan, Tibuu, Demora, and Lux of Orunda—a tapestry of cultures that challenge what it means to be alien, human, and everything in between. When a Demora is elected Queen, old scars resurface and the fragile balance of peace is threatened. Blending queer identity, alien lore, and speculative science fiction, M33 asks how radically different beings can learn to share space, power, and love.
Created and illustrated by independent artist Natalie McKean, M33 is both visually striking and deeply character-driven. Each issue expands the galaxy’s scope, weaving intimate personal stories into cosmic-scale events.
